Made in the USA! 16 Deep Dish Bearing Style WheelsBright Chrome Finish16 Extra Large Size Bearing style wheels have a small visible white or pink bearing on the backside of the wheel. This listing is for a set of 16 Redline replacement wheels. All 16 wheels are the NEW EXTRA LARGE size Deep Dish wheels. They are about 9/16″ in diameter! They’re HUGE and designed to work with our new Hot Swap bearings for use on modern castings getting converted to redlines! Deep Dish wheels were originally issued on the very early castings made in Hong Kong. Most of the original 16 cars from 1968 had limited runs with Deep Dish wheels, and are highly sought after by collectors. Due to difficulty in manufacturing, the Deep Dish wheels were discontinued very early on. Deep Dish wheels are an instant indicator of «Early Run» cars, and their look is very cool! So cool, that collectors restorers and customizers have outfitted cars with Deep Dish wheels that never came with them originally. The main reason they look so great is that the mag is inset from the face of the tire. More common redline wheels have the mag flush with the face of the tire. Deep Dish wheels originally came with a dull silver or “Argent” colored mag. If you are interested in Deep Dish wheels with a more original dull silver Argent mag, please check out the Deep Dish category in our eBay store. We have this same set offered there in the dull mag look. After much research and work, we are happy to present the newest redline wheel for your collection or project. As many have come to know, the early cars in 1968 were outfitted with what are called, «Deep Dish» wheels. These wheels have a great profile because the mag is inset from the wall of the tire, just like a real car. The Deep Dish wheels were only produced early on in the first year, and dropped because the mag area was difficult to finish without ruining the wheel. Efficiency in production was the goal, so the engineers moved the mag to be flush with the tire wall and the rest is history! The early cars came with two sizes of Deep Dish wheels; small and medium. We’ve been making the popular Large size since 2011. What you are looking at now is the Deep Dish format wheel in an EXTRA LARGE size wheel!
