Exquisite & Unique Vintage Navajo #8 Turquoise and Sterling Cuff—Fine Condition This gorgeous turquoise and sterling cuff from the 1950’s-1960’s is a masterpiece of artistry and craftsmanship and has been in my collection for almost 3 decades. It is in excellent, unscratched condition, with no signs of wear at all. There is minor tarnish which can be removed if desired. The bracelet has a hoof-shaped hallmark clearly stamped on the inner cuff surface which I have never been able to identify. I have looked for other pieces that appear to be made by the same artist without success. The maker is thought to be Navajo. The design includes 17 exquisitely matched inlaid turquoise pieces. These stones appear to be from the Number 8 mine in Carlin, Nevada, which closed in 1976. The color of these stones is a deep robin’s egg blue with a golden matrix. At the center of the cuff are 5 turquoise stones that span the full width of the cuff. At both ends of the cuff, there are 6 one-inch long stones. The additional space is filled with bands of sterling and oxidized recesses. This gives this vintage piece a unique and somewhat contemporary flair. The design of the cuff is not gender specific. The cuff is 2 inches wide. The total inner circumference of the cuff is 7.3 inches ( 7 + 5/16ths), including a 1.3 inch wide opening. Due to the position of the stones, any size adjustments should only be done by a professional and with the knowledge that the adjustment could negatively impact the inlaid stones. The bracelet weighs a hefty 150 grams/ 5.3 ounces, but sits comfortably on the arm. Please review the photos carefully and contact us before purchasing if you have any questions.
