2 SAVINELLI: (EXTRA/Lovat+SHERWOOD ROCK BRIAR/Zulu) *N.MINT (1970s) Estate Pipes Two beautiful shapes, a lovat and a zulu, by Savinelli in two old and discontinued series, Extra and Sherwood Rock Briar. Both pipes have been manufactured some time in the 1970s (see in the last photo the oxidation on the Extra’s stem before it was cleaned) and feature medium size bowls, similar in size to Dunhill’s Group 3. Both pipes are in near mint condition (a small scratch on the upper side of the Extra’s stem). The only issue is that the stem of the Sherwood is from a Savinelli Capitol Bruyere (of the same shape, 408), as it had been found without stem. Although (as in most Capitol Bruyere) there are no marks on the stem, it is an original Savinelli and it fits very well. Two beautiful and rare pipes. The one with the lovat stem has approximate length 142 mm (5.59″), bowl height 47 mm (1.85″), chamber depth 40 mm (1.57″), chamber diameter 17 mm (0.67″) and weighs 33 gr (1.16 oz). Shank marks : SAVINELLI [logo in oval], EXTRA [reverse-arched], Savinelli shield, 701, ITALY [faded] The other has approximate length 145 mm (5.71″), bowl height 43 mm (1.69), chamber depth 36 mm (1.42″), chamber diameter 16 mm (0.63″) and weighs 32 gr (1.13 oz). Shank marks : SHERWOOD [logo], ROCK BRIAR, SAVINELLI, ITALY, Savinelli shield, 408 Both pipes do not take filters and have original vulcanite stems.
