Natural White Selenite Sphere Polished Cat’s Eye Satin Spar Angels Stone Crystal Mineral Ball — Morocco (1PC) You will receive one of the White Selenite Sphere similar to the one in the listing, the size and the color of the sphere may slightly vary as well due to the fact that all minerals are different. Average Size: 44mm / 1.7 Inches; Average Weight: 95g / 3.35oz; (see photo, the ptotos are taken under bright light, Crystal stand NOT included, round plastic included)! The name ‘selenite’ is mostly synonymous with gypsum but has been used historically to describe the transparent variety, as opposed to satin spar gypsum for the fibrous variety and alabaster for the fine-grained massive form. Gypsum has the same chemical composition as the mineral Anhydrite, but contains water in its structure whereas Anhydrite does not. Many Anhydrite specimens absorb water, transforming into the more common Gypsum. Some Gypsum specimens show evidence of this, containing growths of crumpling layers that testify to their expansion from the addition of water. All varieties of gypsum, including selenite and alabaster, are composed of calcium sulfate dihydrate (meaning has two molecules of water), with the chemical formula CaSO4·2H2O. Selenite contains no significant selenium; the similarity of names comes from both substances being named from the Ancient Greek word for the Moon.
