It contains all non-error printing varieties from Scott number 1869 Chester W. Nimitz. Mouse over the image above to see examples of the tagging. The stamps are from the FIRST GREAT AMERICANS series, which ran from 1980 to 1985. The brown colored stamps were the highest denomination of the first set. All stamps were printed in panes of 100 with plate number and other standard marginal markings. The overall tagged 1869d is condition sensitive with fine centering being typical. This stamp is also quite scarce and undervalued in all current catalogues. We guarantee all 4 stamps to be accurately identified. Fifty cents met various usages in combination with other stamps. Press information is sporadic. The stamps were first printed on the old I-8 currency press, then switched to the A Press, and later run on the C and/or D presses.
