Handmade Kiln Fired LARGE Irish ceramic Sea shell Ocean sculpture table lamp finished in a reactive copper glaze which gives a beautiful deep metalic patina with flecks and smears of copper showing through. The shade is not included but I have photographed with a variety of shades to give you an idea of how the piece will look. Uk standard plug wired on, this can easily be changed to an EU plug or American. The lamp features sea urchins, large lambis conch shell and a selection of other shells giving an underwater ocean theme. I love working with clay molding it with my hands and making a unique sculpture to enhance the decor in any home and create a unique piece that embraces nature in its finest form and recreates its beauty in a timeless piece that will last forever. No 2 pieces are the same, every piece is made up of different nature elements My ceramics are hand thrown on a potters wheel then adorned with sculpted clay natural elements. Once dry the piece is lovingly hand painted and glazed. Finally the sculpture is sent to extreme firing in a kiln for 24 hours at 1100 degrees. I use an exclusive colour palette so you can collect my pieces and display together, they will all coordinate and compliment each other. Real pottery fired in a kiln will last forever, it will not deteriorate or take in moisture like air dry clay. Ceramic colours melt into glass in the kiln which gives an effect that cant be replicated with any other medium. My pieces are made in Ireland at Ballyshannon, County Donegal, I can make custom commissions but please be aware these can take 10 days to complete due to the lengthly process (described below) Life of a SculptureThe base is hand thrown on to a potters wheel and sculpted into a lamp form using just clay and waterSculpture is allowed to slowly ‘part’ dry for 12-24 hours to become ‘leather’ hardflower and nature Details are made, sculpted and moulded (enough to cover the whole piece and spares)Details are addded to the base using a score and slip techniqueThe piece is allowed to dry thoroughly for 12-48 hoursSculpture is now hand painted using my exclusive palette of under glazesOnce colours are dry it is glazed and allowed to dry againSculpture is kiln fired for 12-24 hours at 1100 degreesSculpture is left to cool in kiln for 24 hours back to room temperature (the piece would shatter with sudden temperature change if removed from kiln early)Lamp is wired with brass bulb holder and gold 3 core wire and a 3 pin UK plug
