This is a Bill Thomas Performance Handbook from 1965 along with the 427 engine supplement that was released in 1966. This book was produced the first year the Big Block Chevy engine was released and explained the design of this new engine as well as performance modifications, assembly procedures, etc. This book is also applicable to 454 engines, the 454 simply had not been released when this book was published. This book also looks into Small Block Chevy and 409 engines. Though this is called a handbook, it is over 125 pages. It is very detailed with many diagrams and charts. It even gets down to things like water pump rebuild. This is a great introduction book to the Big Block Chevy and other engines. This book is very hard to find today since they were the go to book for answers on BBC engines. Because of this many are very well used with greasy fingerprints on pages, notes written inside etc. This book is New Old Stock and came out of the inventory of a speed shop that closed its doors in the 70’s. This book is in excellent condition with light shelf wear. They really don’t get nicer than this! This book and 427 supplement are truly awesome. It is amazing that this handbook was available soon after the 396 engine was released in 1965. The effort that must have been put into getting this handbook released so quickly is mind boggling. This handbook is not only a great collectors item, it also has a ton of valuable information that is still very applicable 57 years later! This book and 427 supplement would make a great gift for that special someone. Imagine the look on their face when they open this extremely thoughtful gift that you can’t buy in any store.
