RARE COLOR 19TH CENTURY WEBB ENGLISH CAMEO CARVED ART GLASS RAISIN BROWN VASEA beautiful piece of English made hand-blown cased (opal or milk glass over a raisin brown colored glass) and carved cameo art glass vase. Because of the very high-quality workmanship on this piece, I am attributing it to Thomas Webb & Sons. The design consists of blossoms, buds, leaves, thorny vines, and raspberries. Obviously created by a highly skilled glass carver, the design on this vase is extremely high-quality, elaborate, and incredibly detailed; all on a rare color of glass for an English cameo vase. There is the expected large concave ground pontil on the underside of the base. The piece in my photos is the actual piece you will receive. It is a very high-quality piece of art glass. This piece has been in my personal collection since 2012 and it is gorgeous! Please be sure to read the “Approximate Dimensions” and the “Age and Condition” paragraphs below.I do my best to describe all items as accurately as possible and to the best of my ability. Our store has many unique and interesting items in several different categories from 35 years of our dealing and collecting antiques and collectables.Age and ConditionThis piece dates to circa 2nd half of the 19th century (1850-1900). The vase is in excellent to mint original condition. Please look closely at the photos as they are an important part of my description of this item. In looking over the vase there are no chips, fleabites, cracks, hairlines or repairs that I can see. All I see are some extremely light age-related signs of use to the body of the vase and the underside that I would describe as faint marks or scuffs. The are extremely minor and only mentioned for the sake of 100% accuracy. Someone took great care of this beautiful old piece; it is truly a beautiful art glass vase. For the sake of honesty, I will also mention that there is a possibility that the top rim on this was reduced at some point, as most of these cameo glass vases retain some of the top layer color around the top rim. Regardless, I bought it for its beauty and rarity and have enjoyed it for more than 12 years. Please keep in mind these photos can be blown up at least 8X-10X times normal, so anything you see will look 8X-10X times larger than it really is. Please note: if you see a dark spot in the photos, it is from my camera and is not a mark on the piece. It will be either just to the right of center towards the bottom or slightly above center on the right side of the photo.Approximate DimensionsAbout 3” (7.6 cm) in diameter at the widest point of the body and it stands about 3.25” (8.3 cm) tall.
