Pull out the plastic frame with the shift boot upwards. 2. Loosen the bayonet lock (cone-shaped plastic part) on the gear knob by turning it counterclockwise as shown in the picture. Now the gear knob can be pulled up. (On the older models 190 and w124, a hexagon nut is attached instead of a bayonet lock and the gear knob is screwed in) 3. Separate the shift knob from the boot by squeezing the top and at the same time using a flat screwdriver to release it from the boot using a twisting motion. 4. Completely remove the old shift boot from the frame. 5. Attach the adhesive strips provided to the plastic frame and stick the new shift boot to the frame. 6.
