Selling an excellent working Sony TC-399. (photos 1-to-7) Refurbished and good-to-go! The specimen featured here was sitting wrapped in shrink wrap years before and just given a much needed maintenance attention that included every steps necessary to get this cool-looking classic machine back in operating condition and successfully done so. Like most vintages, some superficial imperfections are almost expected due to age, but in no way impede normal operations. Also up-for-grabs: 1. A fully restored classic Sony TC-630 seven-inch reel-to-reel deck with built in amplifier (photos 8-to-18, $799). The unit has been inactive for sometime and given a barrage of a much needed TLC including but not limited to: replaced propriety ac plug to a standard 3-prong that is readily available. Total disassembly of moving parts, cleaned, lubricated and now working as should, deoxit all knobs and switches to assure static-free operation. Meticulously detailed clean & buffed every crevice every to a dust-free state. The caps on the dial knobs have been upgraded and looked amazing, as well as the lever switches caps (photos 9-to-11, $799) Finally, demagnetized transport, then installed new felt pads under the erase and record heads. Here’s a tip: To prevent premature wear of the «erase & record» during playback, insert a strip of waxed-paper between the tape ribbon and the «erase/record» heads to avoid contact (photo-15) Bench tested and plays & records at every speed correctly. I connected a Bose-101 speakers to the amp section of the Sony tc-630 and it sounds fantastic! (photo-4) The Bose speakers are not included but I can package them or other compatible set-of-speakers with the machine if need be at an added cost. The only caveat is an exposed hood, the tape head cover is missing, assumed misplaced or lost during a move. The tape holder spindles are also modified and worked amazingly well (photo-6) Both the original head-cover and spindles can be easily sourced-out on eBay or other selling platforms. 2. FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION: From my collection vault of open-deck machines, selling is a work-in-progress awaiting donor for capstan motor is the magnificent Tascam x-1000r (photos 19-to-24, $1599). The specimen listed here is in excellent working condition prior to the unexplained demise of its capstan motor that no longer serves a purpose. The capstan motor seized operation, dead! kaput! The unit has given a through general maintenance including new belt, deoxit, detailed-cleaning, demagnetized, buffed just to name a few. On that note, the item is being sold in «AS IS» described condition for repair, project or parts and be prepared to seek necessary technical know-how, fix or remedy to bring this incredible analog superiority classic to proper specs and and glory. Guaranteed not DOA! No accessories, NAB Hub adapters or take-up reel included. However, the original capstan motor housing and circuit board can be included if requested. Shipping and handling vary on location. Post Script:Ideal for serious incurable collector or purveyor of all things analog, unique and in short supply with intent to build a showroom, I would consider to sell to the eligible buyer, a once in a life time find some of the rarest extremely sought after cornucopia of Vintage, Hi-Fi, DJ, A/V and Pro gears in a single Collection anywhere. Exceeding decades of tracking-down and literally thousands of man-hours invested in refurbishing, restoring, repairing these amazing electronic wonders to accumulate such magnificent concentration of historical analog importance you’ve ever seen! Some are new, used and few are part of my on going passion in what I do. Nonetheless, all has given equal meticulous attention and care to arrive in the integrity they once were and will be hard pressed not to admire aesthetically.
