Vintage American Flyer Wide Gauge Electric Engine #4644 Green Description Topdog Presents: Always exciting stuff! Please click on the pictures to see more details. Up for sale is a vintage American Flyer Standard Gauge electric engine #4644 in a beautiful green color. The paint appears to be original, with some paint chips visible but overall in very good condition for its age. This is a scarce and highly sought-after piece for collectors. It’s important to note that the bell is missing from the roof. While we do not have a track to fully test its operational capabilities, we did test the motor with a transformer, and everything seems to function properly. However, it is being sold as found, with no further testing completed. This would make an excellent addition to any vintage train collection or a standout display piece. About the American Flyer #4644 Electric Engine: The American Flyer #4644 Standard Gauge electric engine was produced in the late 1920s to early 1930s. It was part of the «Wide Gauge» or «Standard Gauge» series that was popular before World War II. The #4644 model was often painted in different color schemes, with the green version being one of the more rare and desirable variants. These electric locomotives were designed to resemble real-world trains of the time, with features like brass trim, simulated pantographs, and functional lights. The #4644 was admired for its sturdy construction and impressive detailing, making it a favorite among both children and collectors. Standard Gauge trains like this one were larger than the later O-Gauge trains and were intended for expansive layouts.
