***********The manual wind movement runs about five minutes fast by the end of its approximate 43 hour power reserve period. The day wheel completes rolling over at approximately 2:02 am and the day wheel completes rolling over at approximately 1:32 am. When the date wheel rolls over on its own it doesn’t want to consistently center. The numbers on the date wheel show wear/loose paint. While the time can be set without issue and the crown winds with an appropriate amount of tension occasionally there is a bit of a jolt that comes from the movement when being wound. Given these issues and considering the movement’s unknown service history a complete overhaul is long overdue and recommended.*********** This seldom seen vintage 1960/70’s Wyler Lifeguard Starfire II, which came from the estate of its original owner, has a silvery grey with orange accents «-SWISS-» signed dial that is in lovely but not perfect condition as it shows wear. The lume on the hour and minute hands, which remains fully intact and emits a faint, short-lived glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully. The bezel is fixed (as it should be). The heavy duty all stainless steel case shows honest wear and minor signs of oxidation. The outside of the case back is stamped «WYLER LIFEGUARD STAINLESS STEEL CASE 4106E-1232.» The crystal shows scratching. While I normally show pictures of the movements of watches that I put up for sale I’m unable to do so with this particular watch as it’s accessed through the crystal. After recently winding the non-screwdown, signed crown 41 full revolutions the manual wind movement ran about five minutes fast by the end of its approximate 43 hour power reserve period. The semi-quickset date function works flawlessly by pulling the crown out to the first position and then turning it clockwise until the desired date has been reached. There is no semi-quickset day function. The day wheel completes rolling over at approximately 2:02 am and the day wheel completes rolling over at approximately 1:32 am. When the date wheel rolls over on its own it doesn’t want to consistently center. The numbers on the date wheel show wear/loose paint. While the time can be set without issue and the crown winds with an appropriate amount of tension occasionally there is a bit of a jolt that comes from the movement when being wound. Given these issues and considering the movement’s unknown service history a complete overhaul is long overdue and recommended. This watch measures approximately 37 mm excluding the crown, approximately 40 mm including the crown and approximately 19mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the fixed bezel, is approximately 10 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 12 mm. A complete overhaul is long overdue and recommended. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch.
